Missy's body was never found. When Mack got the invitation from papa (god) in the mail he kept thinking if this was only a joke or if he should take It serious and go to the shack and see what this note was all about.
Nan and her four children; Josh, Jon, Tyler and Kate, decide to leave to Nan sister's house which is out of state, for a week. Mack decides to stay home, after they left he asked one of his friends to trade cars ( his car for a jeep), because after 3 years of Missy's death he was going back to the Great Sadness (the shack) and the weather was bad and his car wouldn't make it into the forest.
