After writing 580 letters, Mortenson finally gets a response form a man, he received a check of twelve thousand dollars, he knew that with this money he was going to change Korphe children's lives, by building a public school that would allow them to have the chance to prepare for a better future.
All this stuff that Mortenson is doing for this children, tells us about his personality, he cares about others, and wants people to have the opportunity to succeed in life. Its surprising how he takes the responsibility for this town, by promising them that he was going to change it.

While Mortenson explored the village that he was staying in (Korphe), he saw many things that made him feel like they needed someone to speak for them, to make some changes to the community and the way of style people were living. The first thing he does is write letters to important people there and down in California, explaining how there wasn't an education program for children to learn, he described how much effort they putted into it whenever they had someone teaching them something. He wrote letter by letter since in Korphe is way far from technology. At first he didn't had any response from anyone, the first money he gets was from a group of students from a school in California, they did a fund raiser to support children in Pakistan, all the coins were pennies, and Mortenson says that here in the United States a penny might seem like no so important to anyone, " but in other countries it can move mountains."

So far Mortenson seems to be the kind of person that cares about others, an example of this would be how he helped the other hikers at the K12 mountain. He is also very emotional and understands that life in Kophe is much different form the country he came from; California, here in Kophe people live their lives day by day, not knowing whats going to happen tomorrow, children don't have schools to go to. He explains how a teacher gets paid a dollar per day to teach at least a couple of days to many children in this town, they also don't have any supplies that they can use to write notes or do homework on, they use the ground and a stick to write their notes, people with a "higher" economy would use a card board and a stick with mud as ink to write in it. This issue moved Mortenson, his first thoughts are that he wants to create a school for all this kids that follow him everywhere he goes, and provide materials that can make it easier for them to write their notes.

After a long time walking Allie decides that its time for Noah to know what she is really here for, and tells him that she is engaged, this was a big surprised to him it was like if all the dreams he had had with her were now impossible to reach, after two seconds he congratulated her and this conversation kept on going. He then invites her to stay for dinner. Since she supposed to be her to find antiques, or at least that was what she told Lon and she told her that she wasn't going to be back in a couple of days. She accepts the invitation and together they cook dinner, this time that they were expending together made her realize that she does still in love with Noah too. It was probably the reason that her parents wanted someone well known in the society, that would give a great life to their daughter; Noah could do this also, but somehow he wasn't seen at the same level as they wanted him to be.

A day after his date with Savannah he decides to make dinner for himself and his dad. Its weird how they can't ever have a conversation, it seems like his dad is the kind of person that doesn't like to share memories for the past or even explain things that already happened. While eating John asks him about his mother, this was the first time he asked him this in years, since she'd never had been part of his life, the answer that his father gave him was short; John knew that he didn't wanted to talk about his wife because of how he changed the conversation every time he could.

One day while Bruno was talking to his sister in his bedroom; which was something that they didn't usually did, he said to her that he wished to be with Shmuel, but Gretel didn't really heard the last part of the sentence and she asked him who he wished he was with. Since Bruno knew that he wasn't allowed to get near the fence he decided to not tell everyone about his new friend he had. He told Gretel that she heard wrong and that he didn't said anything, but later he tells her that it's his imaginary friend that he wanted to be with. Bruno tells her how he looks like and how he plays with him everyday.
One day later while Bruno was reading a book in the living room, Kotler (soldier) walked in and was asking Bruno about what the book was about. Kotler and Bruno's mother went into his father's office to talk in 'privacy'. When Bruno walked into the kitchen he saw Shmuel polishing the silverware for the surprised party his mom was having, Bruno was excited to have Shmuel in his house, but he wondered why was he doing that, Bruno opened the fridge and tried to reach for something to eat, and when he did that Shmuel looked at him and Bruno offered a piece of chicken right away, at this time Shmuel started crying, he really wanted to eat it, but he was afraid that Kotler was coming back and he wasn't supposed to eat anything or even talk to anyone. When Kotler came back Shmuel had finished the piece of chicken Bruno had gave him, Bruno didn't understood what was happening, he didn't see anything wrong with talking with his new friend or giving him food. Kotler sent Bruno back to the living room and took Shmuel back to the camp. Since that day Bruno kept going back to look for Shmuel, but somehow he was never there. After a week he saw him again and he had a black eye.

Since there wasn't anything fun for Bruno to do in With-Out, he decided to go out and play a game that he used to play back at his old house in Berlin; he like to explore things that he had never seen before. He started walking towards the fence, even though he knew that his parents didn't allowed him to get near it, he kept walking for hours, and he could still see the fence that kept on going to a long distance, hours later while he walked he saw a small dot far away that appeared to be in the other side of the fence. For a minute he though that this could have been an hallucination like in movies where people that walk for hours in the desert saw, as he got closer to it he saw a small boy wearing the striped pajamas just like all the others in that side of the fence, he was around the same age as Bruno, he was tiny and his skin color wasn't as normal as it should be; it appeared grayish, Bruno thought that he probably was starving because of the look on the kid's face. They said hi to each other, this will be the beginning of Bruno's journey.

Bruno thought that the only way they could go back to Berlin was convincing his dad about it, he thought that if he told him that he didn't like it here and that he missed his friends and his old school his dad would probably change his mind and would take them back to their real home. Bruno hadn't seen his dad since they arrived at Out-With, he waited for some soldiers to get out of his father's office so he could go and try to change his mind. When the soldiers left Bruno walked towards his fathers office and knocked on the door, after the third time knocking his dad called him in. His dad made him sit on a chair right in front of his desk, the first question he asked him was, "What do you think Bruno; about our new home, do you like it?" Bruno answer No! right away, this didn't surprised his father he knew that it was going to take them time to get use to the new kind of life they were going to live form now on. Bruno insisted that he wanted to go back, but his words didn't change his father's mind even a bit, to calm things his father told him to go back to his bedroom, Bruno being obedient, goes back to his bedroom crying.

This book is by John Boyne and its starts with a kid name Bruno he is only nine years old and has a sister of twelve (Gretel). He lives in Berlin in a big house with both of his parents and a couple of servants. Bruno doesn't know what his father's job is, the only thing he know is that he wears a fancy uniform. Bruno's family is moving to a place called Out-With, because of his father having to work there, Bruno dislikes the idea because he doesn't want to start making friends over again and leave behind the ones that he already had in his old school. When they get to their new house Bruno quickly knew that it was not going to be easy for him to get use to the new kind of life he was going to live from now on. The house was smaller and there was no neighbors around it or parks or anything that Bruno could have fun with. While exploring his new house Bruno looks outside the window from his bedroom and discovers like a small town where everyone seem to be males and kids, they wore like pyjamas and seem to be controlled by soldiers. Bruno quickly tells his sister to come and see this place (from his window) and they both know that something bad is happening in this place.

Missy's body was never found. When Mack got the invitation from papa (god) in the mail he kept thinking if this was only a joke or if he should take It serious and go to the shack and see what this note was all about.
Nan and her four children; Josh, Jon, Tyler and Kate, decide to leave to Nan sister's house which is out of state, for a week. Mack decides to stay home, after they left he asked one of his friends to trade cars ( his car for a jeep), because after 3 years of Missy's death he was going back to the Great Sadness (the shack) and the weather was bad and his car wouldn't make it into the forest. Mack gets everything ready including a gun in case everything was a about a trap at leat he had something to protect himself with. When he gets there everything seemed to be exactly the same, he nervously entered the shack and asked if anyone was home, he tried to avoid looking at the fireplace (where Missy's dress used to be), but he couldn't he saw that Missy's blood stain still there, he started crying; "I'm sorry honey, I'm sorry". Desperate he started yelling for the person who wrote the note to appear, he started braking everything that was on his way, but the shack was empty. Minutes later someone knocked on the door, he was afraid to open, but somehow he did, it was a black woman.

The End

The story begins with the end. Its about an old man named Eddie. He is the maintenance worker at Ruby Pier, an amusement park by a great ocean. This park has all kinds of attractions and included a new one called Freddy's Free Fall; Where later Eddie would be killed by accident.

Eddie is a squat, white haired old man, with a short neck, a barrel chest, thick forearms, and a faded army tattoo on his right shoulder. He used a cane to get around because of his left knee being wounded in war was ruined by arthritis.

The story opens with Eddie's 83rd birthday. Acting like he doesn't really care about it, he spends all his time working at the park making sure the rides were in good condition. He was a friendly person and traded kids like if they were his own. He had a special feeling for this little girl named Amy? Annie? he didn't remember. The hours went by and Eddie was acting normally, walking around the park like usual; not knowing that this was the last day of his life on earth. While walking Eddie found one of his closest friends, Dominguez. After a little conversation Eddie reaches into his left pocket and takes out two twenties and gives them to Dominguez, asking him to buy his wife something special. This was one of the last nice things Eddie did before dying.
The same day in the afternoon Eddie heard a woman yelling with her eyes to the skies. He immediately saw the top of Free Fall; the new tower attraction. One of the carts was tilted to an angle as if trying to drop its cargo. While trying to save the four passengers in that ride, Eddie gets killed by one of the carts falling on him, "GET BACK!" were the last words he said to the crowd. Eddie felt two small hands in his own before dying; he did not know whose they were.
